After pizza delivery boy Philip J. Fry finds himself victim of a prank order, he inadvertently falls into a cryogenic freezing tank. Having spent hundreds of years in suspended animation, Fry finally reawakens in the year 3000, where he encounters a beautiful one-eyed alien named Turanga Leela who tries to assign him the permanent job of delivery boy. Refusing to accept his predestined vocation Fry runs away, and eventually meets up with a reprobate robot with suicidal tendencies called Bender. Determined to enforce his life task, Leela pursues Fry into the ruins of New York; however, she then changes her mind and decides to follow his example, by removing her own ‘life task’ chip implant. With the help of his new friends, Fry decides to track down his only living relative, his great-great-great-…-great-great nephew, Professor Hubert Farnsworth. The Professor offers the trio jobs in his intergalactic delivery service – and thus ‘Planet Express’ gains a new pilot, a new robot and a new delivery boy…
