Clangers

We come to the Clangers' planet and see that the Clangers are doing see-saw work with Tiny Clanger being thrown up to try and catch things as they pass. She does not catch anything and comes down with a hole in her net. They give up and go indoors. Mj. Clanger is making a spiral-winged boat (Leonardo da Vinci) They take it outside and try to make it fly . As always it nearly works. They drag it back indoors. Tiny Clanger tells Small Clanger about the helicopter she made to take her to the chicken's nest in the previous episode. They collect a dozen ripe notes and take them in to the music quarry. They lay the notes out on the ground. The soup dragon thinks they are for her dinner but they persuade her otherwise. They roll one of the sticky striped cheeses along the notes and they are picked up on it like a ring of music. They lift it on to a post. Tiny Clanger conducts the wheel as Small Clanger spins it. It plays the notes and, predictably, rises as it does so. The wheel comes off the top of the post and becomes unbalanced. It rushes about through the clangers caves chasing and being chased accompanied by its own wild music. In the end it gets caught in a tree and Small Clanger climbs up and brings it down. They carry the musical wheel to the failed rowing-boat and fix the wheel to it in place of the Leonardo spiral. Small Clanger sits in it while Tiny Clanger conducts the flying tune. The clangers stop being angry when they see the wheel begin to spin and the boat rise slowly into the air. Small Clanger flies it up elegantly about the caves and into the sky. At a suitable height, Small Clanger sands up. He takes the magnetic fishing rod and casts about. He catches a very small flying saucer. They take it down amid general congratulation. The Clangers look at the flying-saucer, decide it is too small and throw it back.
