'Penguin's Clean Sweep' Story Code '1721' by Stanford Sherman

Holy Zzzzzz…! When the Penguin and his henchmen, Dustbag, Pushbroom and Miss Clean decide to visit the U.S. Mint for a look around, Batman and Robin are alerted. Arriving at Police headquarters, they find the Penguin outside and instantly apprehend him, only to discover that the felonious fowl did not actually steal anything from the premises. The two crime fighters decide to allow the Penguin to go free, hoping that they can learn what he is planning. The Dynamic Duo and Batgirl investigate the Mint, and soon discover that the Penguin has infected the money inside with Lygerian Sleeping Sickness, a disease capable of rendering its victims unconscious for years. Discovering that a quantity of the tainted tender is now on its way to the Gotham National Bank, Batgirl races off to the bank on her Batgirlcycle, while the Caped Crusader and his trusty chum head for Gotham General Hospital to obtain a supply of Vaccine B-6, the only known antidote to the Sleeping Sickness. However, the feathered fowl and his finks have already ingested the vaccine and then poured the rest down the drain; they set three infected Lygerian Fruit Flies onto the two heroes and leave them to be bitten. With the aid of his All-Purpose Batswatter Batman deals with two of the insects, then captures the last so that he can analyse it back at the Batcave. Learning from Batgirl that $13,000 of the contaminated cash has already been distributed to the citizens of Gotham, Batman broadcasts a radio message warning the unsuspecting public of the threat. But as everyone throws their money out into the street, the immunised Penguin and his crooked cronies use giant vacuum cleaners to collect the cash…
