Avengers Cast

Agent Sean Mortimer learns of a traitor in the organisation, but by the time he reaches Steed and Mrs. Peel he is suffering from amnesia and is unable to recall the information, or even his own name. Steed goes to inform his boss, the wheelchair-bound man code-named Mother, but while he is gone, the enemy take Mortimer and use their amnesia-drug to wipe Mrs. Peel’s memory. After Steed bumps into trainee agent Tara King, he returns to his flat and finds Mrs. Peel; but they are ambushed, Steed’s memory is wiped and Emma is captured. Slowly regaining his memory, Steed finds Tara’s phone number in his shoe, and uses her help to discover that the traitor is Mother's number-two, George Burton. The case solved and memories restored, Mrs. Peel receives some earth-shattering news…

Notes:
*Featuring John Steed and Mrs. Emma Peel, and introducing Tara King and Mother

*The tag scene: The newspaper headline reads: ‘Peter Peel Alive: Air ace found in Amazonian jungle. Wife Emma waits.’ Emma's husband has returned. So, apparently, she can't be a secret agent anymore, but has to stay home and bake cookies. She wishes Steed an emotional farewell and tells Tara to make sure his tea is stirred ‘anti-clockwise’. As she and her husband leave, Steed does a double take as he observes what appears to be his double driving Emma away.

*Although this episode is often included with the Emma Peel colour season listings, technically it was the third episode completed in the Tara King season; Diana Rigg, who had already left the show months before, was recalled for four days of shooting, thanks to a contract technicality

*The title sequence includes a different shot to the usual one: Steed does a golf swing with his brolly

*The end credits are a combination of the colour Emma Peel opening titles and the Tara King closing credits
