Angel Cast

Spike comes to Los Angeles, promising to exact a slow and painful death upon Angel. Meanwhile, Oz arrives at Angel Investigations bearing a gift for Angel from Buffy: the Gem of Amara, a magical ring that gives its wearer the gift of invulnerability. Angel hides the ring in the sewer below the building, but when he leaves to meet a client he is confronted by Spike, who wants the ring for himself, having previously lost it to Buffy. After Cordelia tells Doyle of their past encounters with Spike, Doyle is able to discover Spike’s location. However, it is a trap - Angel is captured and chained up. Spike’s vampiric accomplice, Marcus, tortures Angel in order to get him to reveal the location of the ring, but Angel steadfastly refuses to tell him anything. Furious, Spike finds Cordelia and Doyle and proposes that he will trade Angel in exchange for the ring. Doyle uses his demon powers to locate the ring, but does not want Cordelia to know his secret. The two of them meet up with Spike to make the trade, but as the vampire is about to pick up the ring, Oz crashes into him with his van; he holds Spike at bay with crossbows, enabling the others to get Angel to safety. Much to Spike’s dismay, Marcus has retrieved the ring for himself. Realising what has happened Angel and the others take Oz’s van and track Marcus to the seaside, where the vampire is talking a stroll in the sunlight and watching the children play. Avoiding the sunlight, Angel engages Marcus in a vicious fight, which culminates beneath the pier; Angel is able to reclaim the ring, and Marcus is left to be consumed in flames. Putting on the ring Angel is once more able to walk in the sunlight, and enjoys his first sunset in over two hundred years. However, he tells Doyle that he does not believe the ring is his redemption; he has too much to atone for, and this way is too easy. Watched by Doyle, Angel smashes the ring.
