Voyager One, an unmanned Earth probe launched in 1985, is heading for Moonbase Alpha; however, a miscalculation in the design of its Queller drive has resulted in the probe spending the last fifteen years polluting space with lethal fast neutrons. Commander Koenig is faced with the decision of whether to destroy Voyager One and the valuable data that it has collated, or to attempt to deactivate the drive and salvage the probe. After he enlists the aid of Doctor Ernst Linden to come up with a way of overriding the probe's security codes, Linden confesses that he is the only man capable of the task, as he is really Ernst Queller. After Linden manages to deactivate the drive three Sidon spacecraft appear; the aliens on board announce that they are seeking revenge for the destruction that Voyager One has inflicted upon the populations of their worlds…
